Welsh 3000s

Having spent the night at Ogwen YHA we set off to drop one car at Pen y pas then back across to the YHA at Rowen. From there we set off up to the start on top of Foel Fras. By the time we reached the top of Carnedd Llyweln it was snowing!

Quickly moving on over to Yr Elen for a short break and snack.

Skirting round then up on to Carnedd Dafydd with views opening up out over Anglsey.

By the time we reached Pen yr Ole Wen the weather was really warming up especially as we descended to the snack bar in the Ogwen car park where we enjoyed a very welcome cup of tea.

From here we set off past the end of Cwm Boch Llewed up into Bwlch Tryfan and on up to the summit of our favourite mountain.

Back down to the Bwlch then up the murderously steep path onto Glyder Fach. From here all the way along the Glyder range it was the most spectacular evening with virtually no clouds and a slowly setting sun. Fantastic light and colours. And we were the only ones up there to enjoy it!

By the time we made the ascent of the arrete onto Elidir Fawr darkness finally decended.

Because of this we decided to walk all the way up to Pen y Pass car park to take the Pyg track up to the start of Crib Goch. This was an interesting ascent and I’m glad we had done it before. Getting very tired now slowly moving on round the ridge to join the path over Carnedd Ugain and on up to the final summit of Snowdon!

Steady plod back the car then zipped down to Dol Gam in Capel Curig for a lovely shower and bed, well sleeping bag anyway. Nothing could have stopped me dropping off by now.
